Have you ever experienced driving your car to the required destination, but not being aware of how you got there? Or being so engrossed in a TV programme that you were unaware of somebody talking to you? You were, in these moments, in an altered ‘state’ of awareness.
Hypnosis defies a definitive explanation, but it operates from a similar ‘state’ of altered awareness. In this state you can directly access the subconscious mind. You will find all outside distractions just fade into the background as you become focused upon one thing. When in this altered state you remain awake and the subconscious mind continues to react to the world around you, but the conscious, rational, thinking mind does not interfere. It’s as if you can just push it aside for a while.
It’s at this stage that beneficial change can take place for you. Changes can take place to how you think and feel. You can change unwanted patterns of thinking and behaviour. You never lose control and you can choose to come back to full awareness at any point if you wish.
Hypnotherapy is truly a teaching process, changing the learning patterns that no longer serve you well. You can get fresh insight as you start to take control of your habits, thoughts and emotions. It is an extremely empowering process for most people. Often it has a wider benefit too and others in your life feel the positive effects of the changes too.
Ethics and Privacy
Hypnotherapy has been proven to be safe and effective. You, the client, are always in control because effectively all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. As your hypnotherapist I will merely be guiding you along the way. You cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do, and your ‘moral compass’ operates at all times.
There are a few people for whom hypnosis is NOT suitable. If you have any serious psychological condition, epilepsy or are under the influence of drink or drugs then hypnotherapy should not be undertaken. If you have certain other medical conditions you will require a letter from your GP before treatment takes place.
I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist and belong to professional bodies. I abide by their codes of ethics. Regulation ensures appropriate training, supervision and insurance. I will provide you with a full Data Policy Privacy Notice at your initial consultation.
All consultations are confidential.
